The 45th edition of the TCS New York City Marathon is this weekend, bringing thousands of the world’s best runners to Manhattan. The five-borough course will be more crowded than ever, after a lottery that received over 80,000 applicants. Last year the event set a record with 50,530 finishers, the third consecutive year they set a record for finishers. Add in the gorgeous weather conditions for Sunday, and the 45th race could be the biggest yet.
What started as 127 entrants running laps around Central Park has grown to one of the biggest races in the world. Over $700,000 in prize money will be awarded Sunday, including $100,000 to the overall men’s and women’s champion.
